Gonzo in Detroit (Full Story)

This past Saturday August 16th was Round 4 of the Midwest Drift Union Formula Drift Pro/Am series in Detroit Michigan. This event like no other took place on the streets of Downtown Detroit. With 50 drivers competing for top spot the competition was strong. Chris Gonzalez aka Gonzo to most people made the long drive once again from Winnipeg Canada to battle it out in hopes of advancing in points for the season.
Gonzo came out strong in practice but lost his brakes mid run sending him crashing into a street sign and up and over the curb.
Gonzo and his wife along with the help of some locals hustled to fix the S14 and make it to Qualifying.
As the final car was about to make its final pass the S14 appeared on grid for Qualifying!
With no brakes and a bent front end Gonzo managed to Qualify into the Top 16 but would get knocked out in his battle vs Wade Odrey in his Wisefab S13.
Gonzo currently sits in 5th spot for the season with the Final coming up in October he is in line to get that coveted FD license if he continues his driving like events past!

Matt Murphy joins Team Drift Farm

Drift Farm has added another member to its roster, the latest addition is Matt Murphy.
Matt joined the Drift West Series at round 3 back in Pentiction
He was able to make quite an impact his first time out, qualifying for the top 16 and taking fourth place in the event. He had a very close run with Hotboyz' Jordan Hall and was very excited about his performance.
The Following Sunday Funday Matt racked up the most wall taps out of any driver on the field, making him really fun to watch.
Him and now fellow team member Kurtis Goat had met the night before in the top 8, with Matt taking the win in a close one more time situation. Through out the door they took turns leading and came up with the closest tandem runs through out the day. It will be interesting if these two meet In 2013
Matt also took part in the first official event at Castrol Raceway's road course, which was the final round of the Drift West series for 2012. While he didnt make the top 16 show, he definitely had a great time and made the Mustang look good around the track.
After a good season of hooning, Matt has plans to change up the look of the mustang, so look for these changes next year. When I asked him if he'd like to add anything to this post he wanted to add that he was looking forward to abusing the doors of the Drift Farm Soarer next year.

Welcome to the team Matt!
